| Innocent Families Discover Meth Still Lurks In Their Homes - Part III
We first alerted homeowners to a problem that has lurked inside their homes for years. Houses that used to be meth labs are now home sweet home to unsuspecting families. We're testing the smallest places, looking for a drug that could coat every inch of a home, without the owner ever knowing about the dangers. Pascagoula resident Lila West is convinced Hurricane Katrina washed her home's meth problem away. When WLOX reporter Keli Rabon asked West if she thought her home was safe, she assured us she was safe. West said before Katrina, she and her family worked hard to clean it up. "All I know is this was the nastiest, filthiest hole I've ever seen in my life. We had every window open, we took all the rugs out and mopped them down with vinegar and water," West said.
Burglar makes off with two pairs of panties
A Fort Walton Beach burglar recently lifted unmentionables from a mobile home during a break-in. The resident of a Heritage Road mobile home told a deputy she noticed the rear door to her trailer "slightly open," according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report. She also said someone had removed the window unit air conditioner and opened the window. Among the items missing from the home were her son’s Sony Playstation and a controller ($200), about 20 games ($15 each), about 10 DVDs ($15 each) and two pairs of girl’s panties. .

Police grab tagger with an eye for utility poles
A prolific 31-year-old tagger was arrested Thursday, Jan. 31, and hit with nearly three dozen criminal mischief charges in connection with graffiti nailed to utility poles across the city. Ryan Wendell Birkland was arrested by officers from Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct Neighborhood Response Team. The graffiti began showing up on Portland General Electric poles several months ago. A similar style of graffiti resulted in $12,000 worth of damages to the Sherwood Field Water Tank in Washington Park. During the investigation, Officer Matt Miller, the bureau's graffiti investigator, received several tips about the graffiti that lead officers to Gallery 19, 1339 N.W. 19th Ave. Similar graffiti could be seen through the gallery's windows on display inside the building.
IT U.S. Antitrust Court Slams Microsoft With Two More Years of ...
Despite the circus-like atmosphere punctuated with laugh-inducing testimony, United States v. Microsoft, which went to trial in 1998, remains one of the landmark federal court decisions of the 90's. It paved the way for other government bodies worldwide, such as the European Union, to successfully pursue antitrust cases against Microsoft and other electronics giants like Intel. Microsoft and the government reached a settlement in which Microsoft agreed to grant third-party developers access to its application-programming-interface and additionally give a court appointed panel of three people full access to it's systems, records, and source code for five years in order to ensure compliance. The oversight was supposed to expire November 12, 2007, but the court was not entirely satisfied with Microsoft's progress, so it decided to meet again to evaluate a possible extension to oversight if Microsoft was found not to be fully complying.
